Who will emerge as the real star of American Idol Season 6?

The debut albums of Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis have proven to be unimpressive based on their sales numbers. So we can discount the Top 2 as the stars of that season... who will emerge as the real star? In Season 5, it was Chris Daughtry. In Season 4, it was of course the winner Carrie Underwood. Season 3, it's none other than Jennifer Hudson. Season 2 was Clay Aiken, and Season 1 was the winner Kelly Clarkson. When I look back at the Season 6 contestants, I really can't imagine anyone of them breaking through like Daughtry. I was really rooting for Blake and had high hopes he would be immensely popular, but nope, so far the dude has only sold 156,000 copies of his album since Dec 4th.

  1. As a group they were very entertaining but no one really stood out. In the end I think Melinda Doolittle will be the most successful in her craft but probably not commercially either.
  2. I'd like to see Melinda Dolittle be the breakout star, as she definately was while on Idol (at least as far as I'm concerned). I've read, however, that her first album is going to be of gospel songs, and unfortunately I think that is going to limit her success commerically. I was never a fan of Jordin and once Melinda was elminated, I was hoping Blake would win. Sadly, his cd isn't selling all that well, although considering his single is getting virtually no airplay, I guess he's not doing too bad.
