Is Jordin Sparks really a looker, according to the American standard of beauty?

She's not thin, and she's got flabby arms and thick calves as well. She seems to have a great personality though. But, is that enough for people to "idolize" a person? What are your thoughts about it? What is gorgeous about Jordin Sparks, besides her voice and personality?

  1. She is not to be idolized. She isn't the standard of beauty, that show is stupid, but it is about singing not looks. Watch, in the next few months her agents and a team of people will change her look and make her lose weight and then she will release her album.
  2. Jordin is beautiful because of her sincereness! Beauty is so much more than the look of someone! By the way, she is only 17! Hardly a grown woman! So, she cannot be judged as so. She is a very gifted singer and that is what won her the title! Not her looks! To me, beauty is defined differently by each person. So, to me, I think Jordin is a very beautiful girl.
  3. That show isnt americas next top model. She isnt there to be idolized for her beauty, She is there to be idolized for her VOICE. and I don't think that it matters that much if she's gorgeous enough or not. Who cares if she was even 200 lbs? why does beauty have to mean skinny anyway?
  4. Well, I just took a look at some pics because I've never heard of her, and I don't know how to say this without compromising Karma so I'll try to put it neutrally: She is OK. In other words, I don't always agree with who is chosen as Miss America, Miss Universe or whatever. Sometimes it seems like Affirmative Action, not to be rude (but I am a minority as well). As well, if it's also about personality and not just beauty, how come we never see a contestant who is overweight? I think the judges really need to decide what the competition is all about.
  5. She has a pretty face~ she reminds me of America Ferrara. And the fact that she isn't stick thin is exactly what makes her beautiful by a lot of Americans' standards. She looks realistic by today's weight standards.
  6. she can sing. look how fat ruben studdard is. and kelly clarkson has herself some huge thighs. she was the thinnest out of the top three girls. the other ones were very overweight. already people have to start about body issues. so sad. don't be jealous because she hit it big.
  7. I dont idolize her..but she is a beautiful girl and sings really good as well..looks just like my neice. She just is pretty her figure is perfect the way it is and she doesnt over due her look like a lot of girls do.Why should beauty have to be thin. Im so tired of people giving the impression that being thin and perfect looking is the only type of beauty there is. So many young children are developing eating disorders and killing themselves because of the people they see on tv that are considered beautiful because they are thin.

  9. she is BEAUTIFUL. she does NOT need to look like the media wants everyone to look. they want white girls to be 100 lbs stick thin. they want black girls to have super flat stomachs and have huge thighs and butts. well jordin doesn't fit either of those descriptions she is her own person. she is EXTRELEMY pretty, and extremely talented.
