American Idol Winner, Jordin Sparks Bio and Information
Are you a fan of American Idol? Even if you don't want American Idol regularly, you probably know the name Jordin Sparks. Miss Sparks blew the world away with her amazing voice and wonderful attitude toward life. Many people are familiar with the now famous, American Idol Jordin Sparks. She was competing against Blake Lewis and made a huge impact on this Sixth Season of American Idol by showing just how professional she really is. Jordin showed up with confidence, a charming attitude and a beautiful voice. These are the qualities that made her a winner in the contest and a winner in the hearts of all her fans.
Jordin Sparks is a singer and performer with true class. It appears she was born to be on stage and she handles it with grace and elegance even at such a young age. She is seventeen years old and has never had any formal training in music but has been signing most of her life and for several years publicly. However, Jordin says that she did start singing when she was only a year and a half old and that she has always loved it. At age seventeen she is the youngest person to ever win American Idol so far. She is also the first person to win that was not from the American Southeast.
When asked how it felt to be a winner of American Idol, Jordin responded by saying during each stage as she was moving up it was surprising to her that she made it through all the rounds when there were so many people trying out. However, she says the feeling of making it through is simply amazing. She also feels like this experience has made her a better and stronger person. It is truly inspiring when a young person like Jordin Sparks can learn so much from important life experiences such as her journey to American Idol winner.

Whenever someone becomes as popular as Jordin has, it is to be expected that people would spread false information. Jordin was born in New York but raised in Glendale, Arizona and she had her first American Idol audition in Seattle. She talks about how much singers such as Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce Knowles and Mariah Carey have inspired her singing career.
While American Idol may have been her big break, it was not her first accomplishment as a singer. She has a lot of undertakings to be proud of that happened even before winning American Idol. For example, in the year 2002 at the Arizona State Fair she was named the “Coca Cola Rising Star”. When the former Arizona Cardinals player Pat Tillman was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan, she sang at the memorial service that was held for him as well.
Jordin joined and sang for a lot of competitions like “Star Search” when she was a Junior in high school. In the year 2003, she became known for the five track album that she made. titled “For Now” and she was only thirteen years old. During this recording she worked with Matthew Ward and Gary Leach. Mathew is a legendary Christmas music artist and Gary is an engineer. Gary has worked with LeAnn Rimes on several albums.
Jordin also competed on “Americans Most Talented Kids”, and won many awards such as a contest called the “Arizona Idol” which was sponsored by a local Fox affiliate. This is what paid her way to the Seattle contests. In the year 2004 she was the winner of the “Overall Spotlight Winner” that was for the GMA Academy. She considers this one of her proudest accomplishments.
Then judges and audiences fell in love with her when she auditioned for American Idol in the year 2006. During this year she also participated in the “Torrid’s plus-size model search” in which she was named one of the winners. This paved the way that landed her a spot in the magazine Seventeen in which she appeared in an ad. In September of 2006 she was the one chosen to sing the national anthem for the home opener for the Arizona Cardinals. She has also had the privilege of singing the national anthem at other sport events as well.
Jordin Sparks’ parents are Phillippi Sparks and Jodi (Wiedmann) Sparks and her father is a bit of a celebrity himself. She also has a brother named Phillippi Sparks, Jr., or PJ as he is called. PJ is younger than Jordin. At this time she receives her education by being homeschooled although she has attended public schools in the past. One thing that Jordin is very proud of and freely admits is that she is a committed Christian. She gives thanks for her success to God and her parents. She also regularly attends the Calvary Community Church in Phoenix.
Jordin Sparks’ dad has a lot to be proud of as well, as he is a former NFL pro-football player. He played for the New York Giants for a total of eight seasons and for the Dallas Cowboys for one season. He decided to retire in the year 2000. This is one reason she considers herself a “football and basketball freak”. She also enjoys reading and of course, music. She has an aunt named Shari who is both an actress and a model and her maternal grandmother (Pam Wiedmann) manages her career.
Even with her recent success as the American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has another album in the making so we can all expect to be seeing much more from her in the years to come.
